My name is Akinbiyi Adedoyin. I am currently a Sales Strategist at Big Bottling Company Limited in Lagos, Nigeria, where I focus on enhancing operational efficiency and driving revenue growth through strategic process improvements.
2. What drew you to business analysis, and how did our boot camp align with your career goals?
I was drawn to business analysis because of my passion for solving complex organizational challenges and improving processes. The boot camp aligned perfectly with my career goals by providing hands-on experience with analytical tools and methodologies that are essential in the field. It equipped me with the skills needed to effectively gather requirements, engage stakeholders, and deliver impactful solutions.
3. Describe a memorable project or case study from the boot camp?
One memorable project involved analyzing a fictional company’s sales data to identify trends and propose a new marketing strategy. We utilized Power BI to create dashboards that visualized key performance indicators. This project was particularly impactful as it demonstrated the power of data-driven decision-making and reinforced my understanding of how effective analysis can lead to tangible business outcomes.
4. What advice would you give to someone transitioning into business analysis?
My advice would be to focus on developing both technical and soft skills. Familiarize yourself with analytical tools like Excel, Power BI, or Tableau, while also honing your communication and stakeholder management abilities. Networking with professionals in the field and seeking mentorship can also provide valuable insights and guidance during your transition.
5. What skills or knowledge are essential for success in business analysis?
Essential skills for success in business analysis include Requirements Gathering: Ability to elicit and document business needs. Data Analysis: Proficiency in analyzing data to derive actionable insights. Process Mapping: Understanding of how to visualize processes for better clarity. Stakeholder Engagement: Skills in managing relationships and expectations. Change Management: Knowledge of how to facilitate transitions smoothly.
6. What soft skills did you develop?
Throughout my experience, I have developed strong communication skills that allow me to articulate complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences. Additionally, I have honed my facilitation skills through leading workshops and meetings, ensuring that all voices are heard during discussions. My stakeholder management abilities have also improved significantly, enabling me to build trust and foster collaboration across teams.

If given the opportunity, I would analyze the healthcare industry. The complexity of healthcare processes and the potential for improving patient outcomes through better data utilization fascinates me. I believe that by streamlining operations and enhancing data analytics in this field, we can significantly improve efficiency and patient care quality.
