Real Talk With a Utiva Graduate: Olumide Apata

1.Can we meet you?

My name is Olumide Apata, I work with Laider International West Africa Limited as a Team Lead Medical Representative. I'm currently transitioning into Data Science Professional, interning with The Sparks Foundation as a Data Scientist.

2. What were some of the key factors that led you to choose our Data Science program, and how did it align with your career goals?

My long term goal was to become a tech visionary and one of the formidable AI pioneers in Africa, choosing a career in Data Science aligned perfectly with that goal.


3.  How did the Utiva Data Science program shape your understanding and skills in the field?

With Utiva I've been able to move step 20 ahead and with time I would be where I aimed at .


4.  Can you tell us about a project you worked on during the boot camp that you’re particularly proud of?

One of the projects I worked on during Utiva Boot Camp was Employees Attrition Rate Analysis which helped me to decipher what was the hidden causes for a company's high surge in attrition rate and what to recommend to drastically and empirically reduce the attrition rate which I've been able to deploy at my workplace as well. 

5. . How did the program's curriculum and training prepare you for your current role?

The curriculum was UK & US recognised, which prepared me to work anywhere. I can say with little industrial experience, I can work anywhere.


6. What advice would you give to someone considering enrolling in a Data Science School?

Jesus! With the groundbreaking innovation by Tesla recently, they unveiled their AI-powered Robovan, Robotaxi and humanoid Optimus— the future of any industry is in the hands of AI. So you don't need any motivation, if you want to be so valuable right now and in the nearest future, please learn data science, AI & Machine Learning Engineering and Data Engineering, Software Engineer or Data Analytics to start with.
