My name is Franklin Nwachukwu. I love the intersection of technology and decision sciences. I currently work as a Technology Consultant with a global consulting firm, Project Manager, and Artificial Intelligence researcher. I am based in the United States.

How Long Have You Been Doing This?

For as long as I remember, I have always been in the field of technology. I went to a legacy school of science in high school, competed in science and  maths olympiads, and was a member of the Junior Engineers, Technicians and Scientist” (JETS) club - a science body that helps in inculcating better understanding of sciences and STEM education into its members. To cap it all, my undergrad degree was a STEM research through and through. Professionally, I have been working in technology for 6 years. 

 What Inspired You To Go Into Tech?

My journey into the tech world as a Technology and analytics consultant was inspired by a combination of factors that ignited my passion for this field. First and foremost, my fascination with problem-solving and the potential of data to drive informed decisions played a significant role. Early on, I realized that in our data-driven age, the ability to extract meaningful insights from vast amounts of information was becoming increasingly crucial across industries.

Additionally, witnessing the transformative power of technology in shaping businesses and societies was a driving force. The rapid advancements in data processing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence captured my imagination, and I wanted to be part of this evolution. The idea of leveraging technology to unravel patterns, predict trends, and provide actionable recommendations excited me tremendously.

Moreover, the ever-evolving nature of the tech field, with new challenges and opportunities arising constantly, appealed to my curiosity and desire for continuous learning. The fast-paced environment encouraged me to stay on my toes and kept complacency at bay.

Technology project management gave me my first taste. Then, I led a digital technology transformation during COVID. That was my turning point. Whether it's optimizing operational processes, enhancing customer experiences, or guiding strategic decisions, the ability to tangibly contribute to positive change has been a driving force.

With six years of experience under my belt, I continue to be fueled by the excitement of what's next and the limitless potential that technology and data hold.

What Are The Challenges You Face in your journey into Tech?

Embarking on my technological voyage as a Project Manager and analytics consultant, my path has been illuminated by challenges that have both tested my scientific grounding and propelled my journey forward.

The first thing was access. Then, the resources to learn were also a hindrance. I started pretty early. So I had to stick with my guns to validate my interest in technology.

Navigating the ever-evolving landscape of technology mirrors the cosmic expansion of galaxies. Just as astronomers decipher cosmic phenomena from the celestial noise, wrangling complex datasets demands finesse in data manipulation and advanced storytelling. Nowadays, the process is so much easier, and the knowledge base is limitless.

My quest for knowledge in tech mirrors the ceaseless curiosity that propels cosmic exploration. Like cosmic evolution, continuous learning shapes professional evolution, nurturing expertise as stars shine brighter with age.

What Was Your Highest And Lowest Point Since You Started This Journey?

Since embarking on this journey, I've traversed peaks and valleys that have defined the contours of my experience. The highest point, akin to reaching the zenith of a grand ascent, was when I successfully spearheaded a transformative analytics project with global impact. This project not only showcased the convergence of my expertise but also catalyzed substantial positive change within the organization and beyond. The recognition and satisfaction derived from seeing the project's tangible outcomes marked a pinnacle in my career, affirming my dedication to the tech domain. I also was able to pioneer research articles in global repositories of scientific knowledge. Amongst others, I have a paper that is published in the International Journal of Sustainable Development.

Conversely, the lowest point, akin to descending into the depths of a challenging abyss, was during a few years ago when a rather somber personal event tested my resolve, requiring me to dive deep into introspection to find innovative solutions. This period of intense problem-solving, while demanding, was also a crucible for growth. It taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of embracing challenges as opportunities for learning and refinement.

In the interplay between these highs and lows, I've found the true essence of my journey. Each extreme has imparted invaluable lessons, sculpting my character and sharpening my skills. Just as the landscape of technology is dynamic and ever-changing, so too are the crests and troughs of my journey, shaping me into a more seasoned and resilient individual within the expansive realm of tech.

What Do You Aim To Achieve In The Next 12 Months In Relation To What You Currently Do in Tech?

In the upcoming 12 months, I am steadfastly focused on the pursuit of excellence in data, artificial intelligence, analytics, and its broader applications.

I aim to deepen my expertise in cutting-edge data analytics techniques and technologies. This involves staying current with emerging trends and methodologies, particularly in areas such as machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data visualization. By enhancing my skill set, I can contribute more effectively to complex projects and drive innovative solutions. As a member of the IEEE and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, I aspire to take on a leadership role in strategic decision-making within my team or projects. By leveraging my experience and insights, I intend to influence the direction of projects, ensuring they are aligned with organizational goals and have a lasting impact on the broader tech landscape.

I am also dedicated to fostering a culture of knowledge-sharing and mentorship. Over the next year, I plan to mentor younger tech talents, sharing my experiences and guiding them in their professional growth. Additionally, I aim to contribute to global journals or international repute.

What Are Your Short- And Long-Term Goals?

In the coming years, my aspirations as a dedicated data analytics consultant are divided into short- and long-term endeavors. In the short term (1-2 years), I aim to bolster my technical prowess by honing advanced data manipulation, statistical analysis, and machine learning skills. This will empower me to take the reins of project leadership, fostering innovation, and actively mentoring junior team members. As I engage in industry events and thought leadership, I seek to amplify my visibility within the tech community.

Looking beyond the horizon, my long-term vision (3-5 years) encompasses strategic leadership, thought influence, and global impact. My commitment to continuous learning and mentorship aligns with a goal to educate future leaders, creating a ripple effect of positive change in the tech sphere. I will pursue this through my impact fund for the first gens.

With a trajectory firmly charted toward thought leadership and global innovation, I am well-positioned to advance my ambitions. Armed with advanced expertise and strategic insight, I envision a future where I contribute to transformative projects and advocate for ethical technology usage. What role did Utiva play in your Journey into Tech?

In my journey into the world of technology, Utiva emerged as a luminous thread that wove transformative experiences into the fabric of my career. Utiva's role in shaping my trajectory is immeasurable. I started with Utiva before the new learning model. At the time, it was the Human Capital Development Centre. It was a very tight and talented cohort. 

I did the Project Management and Lean Entrepreneurship course in 2017, was certified in 2018, Did the 52-week Business Case Study in 2018 with Sripriya Sarathy (S/O to Sripriya), and the Data Analytics program under the US Carrington Fellowship Dhub Program in 2020. It stands as a testament to the transformative potential of structured learning and the power of community in propelling individuals toward excellence within the dynamic realm of technology. It has been integral to my journey.

How Do You Unwind?

I love the dichotomy of work and rest! I find solace and renewal in a diverse range of activities. Whether it's the therapeutic melody of music, the introspective flow of writing poetry, the invigorating embrace of swimming, the comfort of a delicious home-cooked meal, the laughter-filled moments with cherished friends, or delving into the ever-evolving trends of AI research, each facet contributes to my unwinding journey, allowing me to recharge and return to the world of technology with a fresh perspective.

I was the first person in my family history to attend and graduate college. As a proud first-generation individual, my journey is colored by the spirit of perseverance and the drive to break barriers. Beyond my current role, I am actively engaged in building an impact fund aimed at advancing STEM education for first gens, channeling my dedication to empowering the next generation of global innovators and problem solvers. Additionally, I'm deeply invested in the realm of artificial intelligence, consistently exploring its potential to reshape industries and our world. He is intentional about building safe spaces for First Generation Students to grow and thrive.
